What Type Of Charter Bus Is Best For Your Trip?
If you’re starting to do some research on bus rentals, there’s one key question that you need to make sure you answer: “What kind of charter bus do I need for my group trip” Picking the right size bus impacts your wallet and it can also affect the overall quality of your trip. It pays to get it right!
Here is our guide to asking the right questions to make sure you get the best bus for your wallet and your travel needs.
Charter Bus Question 1: How Many People Are On Your Trip?
This may seem like an obvious question, but we always ask it. Why? Because many people don’t realize just how many bus options are available for charter. For some, “charter bus” just means a big 50+ passenger bus. They don’t realize that there is a broader number of options available that also cost less.
For example, at Fun Tours, we have several classes of charter buses available for rental. Some people have smaller groups that they need to transport so a smaller bus (a 20 or 32 seat shuttle) makes the most sense. You don’t need to pay for empty seats! Additionally, we can accommodate larger groups on our 38 and 55/56 passenger buses that feature more storage space, clean lavatories, and more group-friendly features.
Make sure you ask about what buses are available according to your passenger count before you charter!
Charter Bus Question 2: How Much Luggage Do You Have?
As we mentioned above, there are several different classes of charter bus available, and each bus is designed differently for different purposes. For example, the smaller 20 and 32-passenger buses feature great overhead storage for day trips, family reunions, and other shorter trips, but they may not be able to store all the luggage necessary for a sports team or an overnight trip.
If you are going to need dedicated storage areas, you may want to ask about a 38 or possibly 55/56 passenger bus. You may not fill every seat, but storage space might require the larger options.
Charter Bus Question 3: How Far Do You Have To Travel?
On every bus, comfort and convenience should come standard, but certain buses are specifically tailored for shorter or longer trips. Picking the right kind of charter bus will make a world of difference for your group. Here are a couple of key features that you should think about relating to the distance of your trip.
We will start with the basics that you may already know. If you are on a longer trip, you’ll want to ask about comfort-related amenities like a lavatory, spacious seating, and sufficient overhead storage in case it’s likely that you’ll want to get anything out of a backpack or purse.
Entertainment amenities are also important to ask about when picking a charter bus. For example, does the bus have WIFI and power outlets for devices? Does it have a DVD entertainment system? Questions like this can make a big difference, especially if you have kids who get restless on long car rides, teenagers who love their social media (save that data!), or even adults who want to be productive on the way. You can listen to your favorite music, stream your favorite movies, do whatever you most enjoy to pass the time – just make sure you pick a bus that lets you do that!
